Job Description
The Lead Engineer (Electrical Distribution) is responsible for contributing through-life engineering expertise to the planning, design, construction, test, commission, operation, maintenance, refurbishment and decommissioning of the Companies electrical distribution networks, this does mean you must be able to work in radiological and hazardous areas.
Key accountabilities:
· The key accountability is for Configuration Management in order to demonstrate network integrity and compliance at all through-life stages, which will include managing specialist network studies, such as computer modelling, and undertaking power systems analysis, such as load flow, fault protection and power quality.
· Provision of through-life engineering expertise to the 11kV/400V electrical distribution networks at the Companies two sites.
· Maintain configuration and demonstrate network integrity.
· As a manager in the Infrastructure Engineering Services team, contribute to team Security Quality Environment Safety & Health compliance requirements.
· Commensurate with the Utility Engineer appointment, professionally accountable for risks and liabilities and own engineering judgement.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
· Network load forecast studies.
· Support to computer modelling and analysis of proposed new networks.
Configuration Management
· System load coordination to ensure new electrical loads are able to be accommodated, and that appropriate interface points are established for all new connections and disconnections.
· Management of specialist technical studies and undertaking power systems analysis, such as load flow, fault protection and power quality.
· Reviewing the engineering content of new schemes to ensure conformance to Directorate strategy.
· Establishing utility/facility interface points & adoption criteria.
· Assessment of changes to the utility infrastructure through the Change Control process.
Engineering Consultancy
· Advising on corporate engineering policy & strategy.
· Providing input to tender specifications & tender assessment.
· Advising on construction, commissioning, handover, operational & maintenance issues.
· Reviewing Safety Cases & Cases for Continued Operation (CfCOs).
System Compliance
· Understanding all statutory, regulatory, engineering, operational and maintenance requirements relevant to electrical distribution, providing advice to Senior Management.
Person Specification
Knowledge:
· Electrical power distribution networks and equipment; including their technical standards.
· Electrical industry safety rules and procedures.
· Network analysis and power quality issues

Qualifications & Experience
Experience:
· Electrical power engineering relevant to utilities including development of strategies and policy design, operation, configuration control and maintenance.
· Best practice project management.
· Contract management and the on-site control of contractors.
· Planning, budgeting and organising work, recognising interactions and impact with other work programmes.
Qualifications:
· HNC/HND/Degree Electrical Engineering.
· Registration with the Engineering Council as I Eng.
· Corporate Membership of Professional Institution.
Salary Package
Location: Berkshire
Salary Range: £37,320-£47,580 dependent on experience
