Job Description
Design & Project Engineer based within the Marine Refrigeration & HVAC business in Glasgow.
Orders for refrigeration, air conditioning and packaged chillers are obtained from the commercial and naval marine markets, which have unique standards and codes of practice requiring an in-depth technical and commercial knowledge to ensure equipment is correctly specified and contracts are profitably executed. As a result, the role demands a high level of technical and financial responsibility, together with the ability to work with customers, engineers, sub contractors, suppliers and in-house resources to ensure technical quotations and resulting projects are completed on time and budget.
The main responsibilities will be to:
· To produce system designs and costings for marine refrigeration plants and water chillers, under the guidance of the Systems Design Manager.
· To work under the direction of the Marine Contracts Manager to plan, manage, monitor and control individual projects from order acceptance through to final invoicing.
· To assist in achieving or exceeding the estimated Sales Margins whilst ensuring technical and contractual security of marine projects to the satisfaction of the customer.
· To act as the HTMS representative in supporting all our customers.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Experience
You will:
· Hold an ONC (or equivalent) in mechanical or electrical engineering
· Have knowledge of the regulations and standards applicable to refrigeration plant and electrical/electronic controls & systems.
· You must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams and electrical drawings
· Have knowledge of thermodynamics, pipe and vessel calculations/selection and general refrigeration systems design.
· Must be computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Microsoft Project Management.
· Training will be provided in company products and systems.
Salary Package
Salary dependant upon experience and qualifications is negotiable. There is a Company Contribution to a Stakeholder Pension Plan of 6% of annual salary, Company vehicle and 25 days holiday per annum.
