Service Leavers set to receive practical support at Thursday’s Event
Tuesday 4 October 2011 8:00 AM
This Thursday, October 6th, hundreds of military personnel leaving the Armed Forces will be attending a career transition event in Tidworth Leisure Centre. The event will help past, present and future service leavers and their family members access a range of support organisations and find meaningful employment when they return to civilian life.
This is the British Forces Resettlement Services (BFRS) fourth event. The event brings together a wide range of organisations, both small and large, hoping to find future employees. In addition the event will also include practical sessions in areas such as CV writing and interview skills, where common mistakes can make the transition to civilian life more difficult. There are also training providers, recruitment firms, franchise opportunities, service providers and specialist advisers available.
Jo Pickard, BFRS Events Manager, said: ““The event gives Service leavers a head start in making the transition back to civilian life. BFRS aims to help and support anyone connected to the Forces understand their options, identify their skills and ultimately make themselves the most attractive proposition to potential employers.”
The good news for those unable to attend the event in real life, BFRS is running a virtual transition event on their website at www.bfrss.org.uk. This is the UK’s first fully functional virtual careers transition fair specifically targeting service leavers.
The BFRS job fair is taking place at Tidworth Leisure Centre, Nadder Road, Tidworth, SP9 7QN on October 6th. The event opens at 10:30am and closes at 3:00pm. People wishing to attend the job fair need to simply send an email to kirsty@bfrss.org.uk or call BFRS on 0845 308 2406.
