COUNCIL bosses in York met an Army chief to mark a new joint venture.
City of York Council leader Coun James Alexander and the council’s chief executive, Kersten England, met the regional commander for the Army, Brigadier Greville Bibby.
All three discussed how the council could strengthen its relationship with the Army and work positively towards a “community covenant”.
The meeting came after Coun Alexander joined hundreds of representatives from local businesses and organisations in York at a special Army presentation last month at Imphal Barracks, Fulford.
Coun Alexander said: “At a time when the Armed Forces Covenant is increasing in prominence, it’s more important than ever that we continue to strengthen our relationships between civilian and military communities.”
The event was aimed at promoting a greater awareness and understanding of the British Army and to develop important and beneficial links within the community.
