I have decided to write a weekly Friday BLOG to reflect on the week just past, but it is not going to be all doom and gloom, just a lighter take on the week’s events or positive actions taken by individuals, success stories, hopefully something that will make you smile or feel good!
Today is not an easy one!! What with the ‘new’ UK – France Defence Treaties causing so much distaste and concern, Obama suffering big losses in mid-term elections and university fees going up to £9K a year!? But here are some stories from the UK in the past week to hopefully make you smile!
- Only in the UK could a Council strapped for cash treat staff to foot rubs and massages in view of a benefits queue? (The Telegraph)
- Only in the UK could a cat cause complaint after attacking postman! (ITN News)
- Only in the UK could the tug boat going to rescue HMS Astute inflict more damage! (BBC News)
- Only in the UK could someone be offered a job and then have it withdrawn by the job centre as he had been out of work for 14 months and it was only open to people who had been out of work for between 6 & 12 months!!?? (The Metro)
- Only in the UK that is ‘suffering’ so badly in these economic times could big bumper firework packs be sold from the 15th October in every supermarket & so many different shopping outlets! (Me!)
So as the weekend approaches have a pleasant and safe bonfire night and enjoy the spectacular displays on offer!
